Handmade Wooden Front Doors Supplied with Building Control Certification

We can re-create a unique door from the regal periods right up to the 1940’s or indeed copy from a neighbouring door that defines your streets’ style. When designing from scratch factors such as proportion and continuity of the whole facade are important. The “Golden ratio” governs the raised and glazed panel areas while stiles and rails (horizontal and vertical main  sections) can be sized to assist this. Glazed areas of the door can be created to let in light whilst maintaining privacy. Whatever you’d like to achieve we can certainly help!

A street of singularly designed entrance doors is to be enjoyed as it shows a period of ‘street style’ that the original designers and spec builders defined.

The Best Timber for Wooden Front Doors
A lot of work goes into making a bespoke wooden door-set so utilising the best timber for your front or external door is vital because we all want it to last. Timber species best serving this purpose are either Accoya, Iroko, Douglas fir or English Oak as they provide for minimal movement (warpage) in service.

For weather protection of the wood and beautiful finishing our paint palette is the complete range of Sadolin and Farrow & Ball which can provide a 9 year guaranteed finish. This durability has come about with recent advances in acrylic and water-borne paint systems that are UV stable so they aren’t susceptible to discolouration nor will these substrate paint systems ‘lift’ from the timber over time.
Glazed finishes can be of traditional satin etched or decorative glass that can be incorporated into a sealed unit to give thermal control that meets Building Regulations Part L. Internally a properly finished door will be signed off with a framing timber architrave to throw light and shadow around this important aspect of your home.

Security is taken care of using the highest grade locking systems. At Sashpro we use Banham, Ingersoll and Yale essentially because they use high grade steel and barrels that won’t jamb over time. A properly constructed hardwood door presents an extremely strong and robust guard to your home.
