For the home owner and the principal contractor – SashPro offer a plan for success
Sometimes there’s nothing better than a change in the home or workspace environment. Sometimes it’s out of necessity and at other times it’s just about putting your own mark on your home.
From prioritising the attention required to a given window or door through to deciding the finished aesthetic and feel, to finally living in an improved environment, this all can be an extremely satisfying process.
At SashPro our sole aim is to help provide our clients make the very most of their period homes.
We’ve found increasingly that period homeowners appreciate their historic houses, ensuring that the charm they have provided for decades continues to this day making our towns and cities the envy of the world.
We’ll be on-hand to guide you with a wealth of thirty years of experience. From helping with design, to ensuring the correct timber usage to decorative colour finishes through to providing your Building Control certification.
Let us into your world to see if we can be your professional accomplices in providing substance to your imagination and ideals. Providing a reliable service to the contractor and homeowner.
Ensuring the success of a projects’ scope of works needs clear headed thinking and operating that will result in reducing costs that inevitably accrue from backtracking, holdups and general confusion.
All too often multiple supply-fitters schedules will just not marry up, no matter how well the promises have been made beforehand.
This can leave gaping holes in the proceedings that will cost other supply-fitters and ultimately the Principal Contractor.
Having purpose made joinery, ready to fit as your project’s schedule demands gives you the certainty you need when aligning time and budget.
The responsibility of this crucial timing should really fall to one individual and not be subject to the logistics of multiple trades. This individual could of course be you or it could be the construction company you’ve engaged to carry out the works as Principal Contractor.
If you’ve engaged a decent building firm they will have team members that can hang a door, install a window and fit any bespoke made item as the project demands.
It’s our job to supply the items correctly made and on time. It’s how things were done when our great conurbations were built and it’s the way the vast majority of the top building companies still work today.
If you require single items such as a main front door or a set of bespoke made windows and your project isn’t a complete refurbishment or build then you’re probably looking for a complete solution. It’s more cost effective to engage one firm of supply-fitters in this instance.
Our clients are, in any case, generally having separate phases of works carried out over time which is understandable given the cost and disruption and if this is the case for you we’d like to assure you that over the past 30 years we’ve carried out hundreds of supply/installations ranging from the commercial to the domestic sector. We can of course operate on a supply and fit basis and this is entirely appropriate where only one or two peripheral trades are required to complete a project.
Building Control documents and CE marking for our range of timber windows and doors are part of the service.
The History of SashPro
SashPro started as carpenters and joiners of period property features. Over the years we’ve attracted a bit of publicity for our efforts in preserving period wooden windows and doors.
“At the time it seemed that everyone was having plastic double glazing installed without realizing the huge loss to our built environment that would cause. Nowadays there are by-laws and Conservation Areas preventing this but it wasn’t the case when Sashpro started out. We we’re joiners of doors and windows already but we took this issue seriously and steered alternative thinking, as the press above and the following documents show, keep an eye on the dates…”Max James – MD Sashpro Ltd
From there we managed our first major contract as approved contractors for Kensington & Chelsea, the amazing Debenham House in Holland Park.
We designed and produced elements to remove those draughty elements associated with older style windows.
No ordinary double glazing would do for period windows or doors. New sealed units that are thinner but just as effective were introduced and publicised on Grand Designs in 2005.
Our first flyer circa 1990. In those days there was virtually no internet and you’ve got to start somewhere! We don’t use flyers anymore – we like to help preserve trees for more substantial uses like making beautiful and efficient things that last a lifetime.
Hip (hippy) homes in Notting Hill saw the light and we ‘recovered’ those gems, saving them from the plastic window syndrome ‘distinction’.
One of the SashPro 4x4s parked at the UK’s biggest timber importers yard – Latham’s. Not only is the 4×4 Green in colour but it also runs on virtually carbon free auto-gas!
Since then we’ve refurbished, renewed, draught proofed, double glazed and basically helped to ensure the preservation of the box sash window the period casement window and period wooden doors in houses, flats, and offices throughout London and the Home Counties.
